Antipodes Mineral Foundation Review*

Monday, November 30, 2015

Considering im a foundation hoarder, mineral foundations are something im not familiar with. I don't know why but mineral foundations just havent appealed to me. I recently tried Antipodes Skincare which i loved (click here to see my review of the Antipodes Skincare Range). One of the main reasons i loved it is because it is natural ingridients and good for your skin. I wear makeup pretty much everyday so it can take its toll on my skin. Anything that claims to be good for my skin i am willing to try.

I also got sent the Antipodes Kabuki Brush to apply the Mineral Foundation with. I am so glad i received this brush as i wasn't sure what would be best to apply it with. I chose the shade Pale Pink which is a perfect match for my skin tone and im a NW20 in MAC or a NW25 when tanned. The packaging is simple, easy to get product out. I dabbed the brush into the powder and started in the center of my face working outwards. I applied this in circular motions rather than sweeping. After the first layer i was quite surprised and impressed with the coverage it had provided. My complexion looked flawless yet natural. I decided to apply a second layer to see if this would be buildable. It definitely can be built up but not to full coverage. I found it gave medium coverage whilst looking natural and not heavy at all.

The only thing i found with this foundation is that you really need to moisturise and use a primer. Because it is powder based it is alot drier than your typical liquid foundation. Antipodes do state that this foundation suits all skin types from Normal to Dry to Oily. After a few hours my t zone was still matte not one sign of any shine in sight! I usually have to re apply powder in the afternoon but i didn't need to. Overall i am pleasantly surprised at how much i love this foundation. Antipodes have now converted me to mineral foundations. If you have always wondered about mineral foundations but like me never tried them you should definitely give them a try.

The Antipodes Mineral Foundation and Kabuki Brush can be purchased from Feel Unique (currently on offer).

Have you tried a mineral foundation before?

The Perfect Contour Product

MAC Harmony Blush

Yes its been two years since Kim K made us all go wild for contouring and yes two years later i am still obsessed. Finding the perfect contour shade is alot harder than you would expect. This last year i have ditched the fake tan and embracing being pale. Im an NW20 in MAC which makes it hard to find contour shades to work well. Alot of contour shades even in the "light" kits are all very orange based. I do contour on a daily basis which may sound ridiculous but most days i just do subtle contour which looks extremely natural then other days i prefer the full on "look at my cheekbones" kind of contour.

I have tried many contour products including Benefit's Hoola Bronzer, Seventeen's Define & Conquer Kit and more but nothing seemed to hit the spot right. I recently came across a product you wouldn't expect as a contour product. It is the MAC Powder Blush in Harmony which is a matte shade. MAC describe this shade as a "muted rose-beige brown". As soon as i opened the packaging i could tell it wasn't as dark and orange looking as most contour products. It is a very light brown which looks lovely on my skin tone if i do say so myself! When im wanting a more subtle/natural contour i use my duo fibre brush and lightly swirl this around along my cheekbone and forehead. It definitely warms up my complexion whilst still looking natural and not harsh.

For the days i want to look like Kim K i use my Dupe Nars Contour Brush which was a bargain buy! If you want to know more about the budget version Nars Dupe check out my Bargain Budget Brushes post. This product can be built up without looking muddy. I found after using the Benefit Hoola Bronzer i noticed it began to look a little muddy. I think this definitely works with paler skin tones and looks natural as MAC said it has a rose-beige undertone which blends perfectly with pale skin.

Hallelujah i have finally found my perfect contour shade! The MAC Powder Blush retails for £18.50 which yes it is expensive but when a product works as well as this you can't grumble.

What is your favourite contour product?

Worth The Hype? Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade Review

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade Review

I recently started a scrapbook from when i was born up until now and I have to say looking back even just a few years ago my brows looked horrendous compared to now! Eye brows have definitely become a staple part of most women's makeup routine. Everyone is different and suits different shapes, its only the past few months I have found the perfect shape for me. One product hugely raved about is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade which of course I had to try for myself.

I searched swatches online and decided to go with the shade Chocolate as I have extremely dark brown hair and usually always end up dying it back black but I don't want black eyebrows! First impressions were good. The packaging is lovely and definitely feels high end. It comes in a small box with the ABH Logo and the the pot itself is glass. It is pretty heavy but for the £15 price tag you want high quality. My ultimate brow brush is the Zoeva 322 Brow Line Brush which is only £8.00. Beauty Bay is heaven for me, when I came across how cheap the Zoeva brushes were, I had to have them.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow in Chocolate

So does the ABH Dipbrow work? The first time I used this I dabbed my brush in and applied far too much product and it became unbearable to work with! You literally only need to slightly dab your brush in and get the tinniest amount product. This stuff really goes a long way! If you apply too much it looks messy, clumpy and just wrong. I always do the tails of my brows first and then work inwards to create a more natural affect. It does take a few goes to figure out how much product you need. Once I figured out how much to apply I found this easier to work with. If you are in a rush in the morning then this isn't for you. Using this product you definitely need time and patience.

The best part about the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade is the lasting power. After a full day from 7am till 10pm at night my brows still look like perfection. I do always set my brows with a clear brow product but I have also tried this product without and can confirm it lasts just aswel! I mainly set my brows to stop the odd hairs moving rather than the product smudging or anything.

It is an amazing product but my only negative is the fact after you get away half way through which takes months the product dries out and makes it difficult to use. You will end up using half to three quarters and then having to throw it away as it is too dry. Lately I have found a £5 alternative which works exactly the same, lasts the same and literally has no difference and that is the Freedom Brow Pomade

Have you tried the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade?

Letter Ornaments

I recently downloaded the app Depop to sell some of my makeup and clothes and i came across a page that made these handmade letter ornaments. On the page they were all Disney characters and i have to say i fell in love. I am a big Disney fan and Ariel is my favourite so i definitely had to order myself one. I recently got a dressing table and thought this would look perfect on it. As the page was only Disney related i messaged the woman asking if she would be able to do a football styled one for my nephew and she said yes! She is also on instagram which i will leave all links at the end of the post!

Disney Little Mermaid Gift

Disney Little Mermaid Gift

How cute is this?! You can see the amount of detail gone into it is amazing. I love how the Ariel figurine and Flounder one on the letter. The beads all look so pretty. It has a mixture of sizes and styles. One large bead has scales on and then there are some heart shaped ones too. The letters are wooden and the figurines are quite light so it isn't heavy at all which is perfect if you want to send this as a gift.

Arsenal Football Personalised Gift

Arsenal Football Personalised Gift

My nephew is 9 and obsessed with football especially Arsenal. I thought this would make a perfect gift for his room. As there was only Disney ones on the page i asked if she could do anything related to football and keep it red for Arsenal. The woman is lovely, she messaged me asking me which players he liked so she could get a figurine which looks amazing. I love the little touch of the small footballs on the letter. The colours are perfect for Arsenal and im sure my nephew is going to love it.

They cost £20 plus £4 postage which is such a good price as they are handmade. They can take around 1-2 weeks to make. The lady is lovely and contacts you every step of the way updating you and asking your opinion so it is made just how you like. Definitely check her out on Instagram and Depop!

Disclaimer: Note i paid for these myself as one is for me and one is a gift. I have not been asked to do a post, i just thought they would make such cute gifts so why not share with you?

Whats In My Winter Makeup Bag

Whats In My Winter Makeup Bag

Full Coverage Winter Makeup

Winter Ready Makeup

Autumn Eyeshadow Looks

Stormy and Dull is the way to describe this months weather so why would you let your makeup follow suit? I thought i would share with you what is currently in my Autumn/Winter Makeup Bag. In winter i definitely prefer a fuller, flawless coverage with a hint of colour.

The new Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot Primer is a new release which i love. I have been using it non stop over the last few weeks. It helps smooth out my base and helps prevent my oily prone skin! I recently caved in and purchased the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation after seeing so many positive reviews. I have been trying this on and off for the past month trying to make myself love it. I just can't seem to get on with it. It is in my makeup bag as i keep hoping i will fall in love. If you missed my review of every reason why i currently hate it CLICK HERE to read my full review.

My dark under eye circles definitely make me look dull and drab so a full coverage concealer is in need! My trusty Seventeen Stay Time Concealer is back in my makeup bag as it is amazing! It is a budget version of the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. Moving onto a highlight which is my new favourite thing to do in my makeup routine. I have been testing out the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer which is perfect for a subtle highlight. I apply this after my concealer, on my nose, under my cheekbones and chin. It really lightens up my face but looks natural.

Essence is becoming a new favourite brand of mine. I have been using the Essence All About Matt Fixing Powder to set my makeup, it doesn't add more coverage which is perfect when your already wearing a full coverage foundation. It keeps me matte so what more do i need! Im quite pale being a MAC NW20 so contouring can be hit or miss as alot of products look a little orange on me. The MAC Powder Harmony Blush is amazinggggg! It is the perfect shade, doesn't look muddy, blends well and works perfect for us pale skinned girls.

Lately i am loving matte eyes rather than all the shimmer and glitter. Don't get me wrong when its Christmas i will be popping out the gold shadows but for now im loving a matte finish. My Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral Palette is my favourite palette of ALL time! I recently reviewed this with swatches which you can read by CLICKING HERE. You can create so many looks from the 12 shades and it is a bargain buy. Lastly its all about the lips. I am currently obsessed with mauve shades and the Essence Natural Beauty Lipstick is the perfect shade. Essence lipsticks are amazing quality for such a bargain. I recently swatched my whole Essence Lipstick Collection with so many perfect autumn shades, CLICK HERE to see my swatches.

That's the products I've been using, what products have you been loving or hating this Autumn/Winter?

Tickled Pink With Diet Coke | Cancer Awareness*

Diet Coke Tickled Pink Cancer Awareness Can

Diet Coke Tickled Pink Cancer Awareness Drink

Tickled Pink Cancer Awareness

Tickled Pink is a well known charity supporting Breast Cancer Campaign and Breast Cancer Care for over 17 years. It is a brand we all know and love and show our support in many different ways. When i was contacted saying Diet Coke are teaming up with Tickled Pink by creating a special Tickled Pink Diet Coke Can which is now stocked in Asda stores.

Asda are well known for supporting the charity from clothing to accessories and more. Asda are stocking 15 can multi-packs which retail at £4.43 and 40p from every pack will go towards Tickled Pink. The cans have the pink ribbon logo with Tickled Pink and Asda in pink.

Tickled Pink started 17 years ago and they have already raised a huge £40million for Breast Cancer. Not everyone can afford to donate a huge amount so buying things like the Diet Coke Tickled Pink Multi Pack helps. As they say every little helps. You don't have to know someone that has suffered from Breast Cancer to support it, it is there for everyone and anyone to help support in any way they can.

I love how such a big brand as Coca Cola have teamed up with Tickled Pink showing their support. The Diet Coke Tickled Pink Multi Packs are limited edition packs so go and buy them whilst you can!

If you would like any further information then visit facebook.com/DietCoke follow @DietCokeGB on Twitter.

Do what you can to help support Tickled Pink and help them raise money everyday!

Foundation Friday: Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation Review

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation

Its that time of the week again! Foundation Friday! Last week i reviewed the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation which if you missed click here to read the post. This week i am doing another high end foundation the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation which is one i haven't seen hyped about much. Urban Decay is one of my favourite high end brands so i thought it was about time i tried the foundation.

The packaging is simple, it comes in a plastic bottle which for high end you would expect glass rather than plastic. On the plus side it does come with a pump. After speaking to a few bloggers i had the impression that this foundation was buildable coverage leaving a flawless finish. I hate to say this but i just cannot get along with this foundation. The one thing about this foundation compared to any other i have tried is that it is super runny. I pumped a couple of pumps over my face and blended with my Real Techniques Sponge. The results looked awful, i found it didn't look flawless and it clung to any dry patches.

I decided to try again using a buffer brush but the results were still the same. I tried to build this foundation but found it wasn't that buildable so this is definitely a lighter coverage. I really wish this foundation would of worked for me as i had such high hopes. I left it a few days then decided to have one last go using a different primer and a different brush but it still didn't look flawless on me at all. Its not often i get breakouts but when i do i don't want a foundation to cling to them and this one did.

Considering the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation retails for £27.00 i won't be buying again. I would recommend this foundation if you prefer a lighter coverage and don't have super dry skin.

Product Empties

Product Empties

I can't believe i have been blogging a year and never done an empties post! I have recently used up quite alot of products over the last month so thought it was about time i did one. I always love to read other peoples empties as its a great way to see what people really think of the products.

First up is the L'Oreal Advanced Correcting Serum which has lasted me a good few months. This range is aimed at people in their 20s-30s and i have to say it is amazing. It retails for £16.99 but is always on offer in boots. I apply this every morning and it instantly refreshes my skin and i have noticed my skin definitely looks healthier and not as dull.
Repurchase: Yes, i already have!

Secondly is the Garnier BB Cream for Oily/Combination Skin. I usually love full coverage so a BB Cream has never done it for me until now! This BB Cream provides amazing coverage, definitely medium and it is buildable. I am also amazed at how well this keeps my oily skin at bay. I think especially in the winter with the colder weather this will definitely be my go to over a full coverage heavy foundation.
Repurchase: Definitely

St Ives Timeless Skin Daily Microdermabrasion Face Scrub works wonders! I use this scrub everyday and find it especially helps when i have breakouts or dry areas. It has that "gritty" feel too it which is what you want in a face scrub. Since using this my dry patches have completely vanished!
Repurchase: Yes!

If you read my blog already you will know i have raved about the Urban Decay Naked Concealer many times. I can finally say i have run out! I use this concealer more for highlighting rather than for my under eyes. There isn't enough coverage for my under eyes as they are very dark but i picked this up a few shades lighter and it looks gorgeous to highlight.
Repurchase: Already have!

The Benefit They're Real Eye Liner is my new holy grail! If like me you have never been any good at winged eyeliner then this is for you. It makes it super easy to create the perfect wing, dries quickly, extremely black and lasts all day! This has lasted me many months and i will never use anything else.
Repurchase: Already have :)

Lastly we have the Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot Powder which for me is a underrated product. It is a translucent powder which claims to keep you matte. One of the best powders i have ever used, hands down! It keeps me matte for hours. I keep this in my bag to do touch ups during the day but i find i only need to touch up once compared to my usual 3-4 times!
Repurchase: Definitely!

My Go To A/W Palette | Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral Matte Palette

Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral Matte Palette

Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral Matte Eye Shadow Palette

Sonia Kashuk Eye Palette

I have to admit i don't own a huge amount of eye shadow palettes but i am definitely becoming more obsessed. I am a matte kind of girl so when i came across this Sonia Kashuk Eye On Neutral Matte Palette i fell in love. The problem... its not sold here in the UK. I was super excited when i found it on Ebay for £17 including postage from Canada. My order was placed and i was shocked at how quickly i received the item.

Since receiving the palette i have used nothing else. I have created so many different looks and finding more and more ways to use them. Now lets talk shades...

Top Row
White
Light Beige
Pale Pink

Second Row
Peach
Darker Rose Pink
Light Taupe

Third Row
Brown/Brick
Mid Brown
Dark Brown

Bottom Row
Plum
Grey
Black

I am currently loving to use the Light Beige (top row) as my transition shade then use the Pale Pink (top row) all over my lid. Using the Peach (second row) i go into the crease and blend with my Sigma E40 Brush. Then over the crease again with the Light Taupe (second row) and the Brown/Brick (third row) in the outer corners. I also use the Peach, Light Taupe and Brown/Brick on my lower lash line. This honestly creates such a pretty look.

The main reason i am loving this palette is the pigmentation! Every shade is extremely pigmented and last all day. They are powder shadows but feel quite creamy. As you can see from the swatches below of some of the shades, every single one has amazing pigment. I cannot get over how much i am loving this palette, it is definitely my go to for Autumn/Winter.

Foundation Friday: Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

Foundation Friday is back after a few weeks off! I have currently moved house and also been struggling after my big knee operation. Blogging has been the last thing on my mind but im finally trying to get back into it! I do have a Beauty & Stationary Giveaway coming up on the blog over the next few weeks for reaching 1000 followers on bloglovin!

Today's Foundation Friday is all about the extremely hyped about Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation Makeup. On paper this foundation is perfect for me as i love full coverage and i have extremely oily skin... So why did i hate this foundation so much?! Yes i hated it! I know i have always seen this foundation is hit or miss because people say it is cakey etc but no it wasn't that. The packaging is pretty as it comes in a glass bottle with a gold lid but no pump.

So i moisturised and primed as i usually would and then decided to try this with a Beauty Blender. I applied a small amount, blended then added a little more and blended again. Eurgh my face looked horrible! It wasn't full coverage! You could still see my freckles and the odd breakout. For this to be full coverage you have to apply ALOT! I tried again a few days later but this time i tried applying it with a flat top kabuki brush and again it looked awful. I left it on and carried on with my day to see if it settled more and how well it lasted. Lets just say nah this doesn't work on my oily skin. Yes i wasn't extremely oily but i still had a fair old amount of oil on my face. It went patchy and didn't do anything for me.

I have tried this with many primers and tools but nothing seems to work. In my opinion my Seventeen Stay Time Foundation is much better, provides full coverage, doesn't look cakey and lasts well.

Put The SASS in Sassy with #GotSASS Intimate Skincare For Women*

SASS Intimate Skincare For Women

SASS Intimate Skincare For Women

SASS Intimate Skincare For Women

Is it only me or does anyone else think SASS is an amazing name for a brand! It is a word that really stands out and hey who doesn't want to feel sassy?! This post is something different to most of my usual posts but it is something that needs to be talked about more. SASS is a brand that provides every kind of feminine hygiene possible. It might just be me but i have only been aware of the brand femfresh when it comes to our lady parts.

SASS have done an amazing job at creating a cool and sassy brand that stands out to young girls aswel as the older generation. One thing i loved about SASS is that it states "Always tested by our SASS Sisters and never our pets"
In the package i received a few samples which came attached to these cute cards which have #GotSASS on them. They make the brand seem so edgy and something everyone needs to try.

SASS have a wide range of Cleansers, Gels, Shave Gel, Mists, Serum, Cream and more! I have found that each product smells lovely and doesn't have that "chemical" smell like most feminine hygiene products. The Refreshing Mist is the perfect size to pop in your handbag or travel bag which makes life that little bit easier! Another thing i love is that you wouldn't know what these products are by looking at them whereas if Femfresh fell out of your bag everyone would know what it is!

SASS have created a wide range of products suitable for our nether region which have the correct ph balance for our skin. I am so impressed with this brand. SASS is now stocked in Boots!
