February Favourites

Soap and Glory Lid Stuff | £10.00

If you read my blog you will see i did a review of this recently. I picked this up in boots beginning of the month and i love it. Its the perfect nude shades and perfect colours for the crease. I went as far as saying i prefer this palette to the Naked Basics! Read my full review by clicking here

I dont own many highlighters as its not something i do everyday. This highlighter is amazing and it is so cheap. Its perfect for the cheekbones.

Elf Maximum Coverage Concealer | £3.95

Concealers are hard to find as for me i find one is better for under the eyes and another for blemishes or breakouts. This concealer is my go to when i have a breakout. Its slightly thicker than your average one but it covers breakouts so well. It comes in a squeezy tube which i love and it lasts forever.

I recently tried this at Christmas as my boyfriend got me a set and i fell in love. I am a full coverage kind of girl so when i liked this it suprised me as it is pretty light coverage but still gives a nice glow. I will do a full review soon of the pros and cons and skin types etc...
(Boots have on offer for £23.85)

Winged eyeliner is something i have never been able to do, i have tried every way possible and still cant do it so i gave up. Then i found this product and its amazing. I can finally do winged eyeliner is seconds! It wont be for everyone but again i will be doing a post to explain how it works and the cons/pros.
(Boots have on offer for £16.65)

Makeup Spending Ban Tips & Tricks

Tuesday, February 24, 2015
Recently i decided to go through all of my makeup and see how much i actually had. I think i shocked myself at how many products i have and the amount which havent even been used yet. Everyone i know says they cant believe how much i buy and how often. I am your typical shopoholic! I go shopping every week without fail and can end up spending a fortune on products. I go with a plan and a list of what i need then i come out with £70 extra worth of things! So i have decided to go on a Makeup Spending Ban for 30 days. 30 days might not seem alot but considering i shop every week on a very large scale a month will be a long time for me. If it goes well i hope to go longer than the 30 days but i dont want to get ahead of myself.

Makeup Spending Ban Tips & Tricks

As i mentioned the reason im doing this whole "spending ban" is because i realised how much makeup i actually own and how many products havent been used. I counted some of the products i own and it turned out....

Foundation - 27
Blusher - 38
Primer - 12
Concealer - 16
Please note i have only included the main products and not included any of my bronzers, powders, eye makeup etc...

To some i dont know if that is alot or not but to me 27 foundations is ridiculous and there isnt even two of the same! When i told my mum she couldnt believe im still buying more when i have all that. So from today i am not buying any makeup products at all for 30 days. It will be a struggle! The ban is also on clothes not just makeup so i wanted to do a post to share some of my tips of how i will stick to the ban.

1. Delete any clothes/beauty related apps off your phone. I tend to check them out everyday and see something i want so i buy it as its so easy to do on your phone...too easy!

2. When you receive those emails shouting 20% off or free postage dont even open them just delete them! I get at least 5 or more a day so i am now just deleting them without opening them.

3. As i own so much makeup i am going to be using those products and finding old favourites in the process, just make sure to switch it up now and again so it feels like you are using new products.

4. De Clutter your wardrobe and find items you forgot about and try them in different ways.

5. Work out roughly how much you spend on makeup/clothes on a weekly basis and put that money away each week. This way you will have a good end result and you can use the money for something more productive...A holiday, paying off debts etc...

6. If you really struggle and want to try new products ask friends/family if they have any products they dont use or have a clothes swap. You are still getting the buzz of something new without having to fork out a penny!

7. During the 30 days if you see products you want to try write them down then at the end of the 30 days see which ones you still want.

I hope you found at least one of these tips useful as i know i will be sticking by them and see how i get on after 30 days. Once the 30 days are up i will do another post to let you know how i get on and if i will be doing it for longer. I am also going to do a post on my makeup collection/storage soon.

Have you ever been on a spending ban?

Drugstore Concealers Best & Worst

Drugstore Concealers Best & Worst

Drugstore Concealers Best & Worst

L - R
Maybelline Fit Me | Revlon | Rimmel | W7

Concealers are one thing i struggle to find ones that suit me. My all time favourite concealer is Mac's Pro Longwear Concealer, but i wanted to do more of a budget post as i mentioned in my last post i am on a spending ban. I havent had chance to do the photos for that post yet. I usually find i have to use one concealer for under my eyes and another for any breakouts/blemishes. I have quite dark under eye circles so i do like a fuller coverage concealer.

I have had this concealer for quite some time now and i do find myself to keep reaching for it. Many people have said this is the dupe for Nars Concealer. Maybelline have done an amazing job as this is probably the most creamy concealer iv ever used. The coverage is pretty good and blends in easily.

I bought this concealer about a month ago after using the Revlon Colorstay Foundation. I wasn't sure what to expect. It is lovely on the skin and blends in well with the foundation. The shades are quite natural tones. Sometimes i like to use my concealer to highlight areas but this concealer doesn't work for that at all. As a concealer it is worth a buy but not if your wanting to highlight with it also.

This is an old favourite which i forgot about for some time. I have started using it again and i havent fallen back in love. The coverage isn't that great but it does the whole "wake me up" look well.

W7 Concealer | £2.45
I bought this on a whim if im being honest as it was so cheap. Its one of the worst concealer's i have ever tried. The colour as you can see is awful and very dark. It dries my skin out alot which i didn't like and the coverage was ****.

Drugstore Bronzer's Best and Worst

Monday, February 16, 2015
Bronzer is something i use everyday but i dont actually own alot of them. I usually tend to stick to one that i like and keep buying it. I have different bronzers for different techniques. I have my all over face bronzers and ones i use to contour with. One thing i hate when it comes to a bronzer is ones that have shimmer in them! I cannot stand them and how they look. I dont want to look like a glitter ball every time i turn. I dont see many posts about bronzers so i decided i would do my best and worst.

Drugstore Bronzer's Best & Worst

Elf Contouring Blush & Bronzer Duo in "Fiji" | £3.95
Elf is one of my favourite brands, the quality is amazing and the price is even better. I do love the bronzer in this kit as it isn't too dark and it is matte. Perfect for contouring!

KIKO Bronzer Powder "honey beige" | £9.90
Kiko is a brand everyone needs to try. Its kind of between drugstore and high end. There are only 5 stores in the uk but you can also buy online which is a uk based website. I picked up this bronzer not knowing what to expect but i love it. It feels lovely on my skin and it is so easy to blend. It is great to use all over my face to give me a slight glow.

Over the last 6 months this bronzer has been raved about so many times. I honestly dont understand what the hype is all about. I have tried using this a few times and it just isn't for me. I hate the way it goes onto my skin and i find the shade itself is pretty poor and takes alot to get any colour from it.

Iv had this one quite a while but for the past few months its been sitting in my draw. I decided to bring it back out a few weeks ago. I love this one, i use it all over for a nice subtle glow and it looks lovely. It works perfectly if i have fake tanned. When first using it i didnt use it all over as it had a slight shimmer but once it has been used a few times that disappears and it becomes more matte.

This was another bronzer i bought after reading good reviews and i also loved the packaging. I am really disappointed with this product. I find it takes forever to get any of it to come onto my bronzer brush and is really hard to apply well. I have tried different brushes but still no luck. Not worth a buy at all.

What is your favourite bronzer?

Soap & Glory Lid Stuff Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

Wednesday, February 11, 2015
Hello you lovely lot, how is everyone? Today is a review of Soap & Glory's Lid Stuff Eyeshadow Quad in Nudes. They have 3 shades available but i went with the nudes as i like it had matte and shimmer shades. I havent tried many makeup products from the S&G Range but what i have tried i have loved so i was excited to try these out.

Soap & Glory Lid Stuff Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

Soap & Glory Lid Stuff Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

The shades reminded me of the ones in the Naked Basics palette, i must be the only person who wasn't impressed with the lighter shades in the Naked Basics palette as i found they were not very pigmented and didn't last well at all. So when i saw this palette i was excited and i have to admit its my new love! The lighter shades are perfect for all over the lid as you have a creamy "vanilla" shade and a pinky shade. Next you have a matte chocolate brown and a shimmery brownish purple which looks gorgeous on.

As you can see above from the swatches,, (ignore my horrible nails they have been done today and look all pretty again) the colours are very pigmented especially the lighter ones. I have been using this palette everyday for the past week using all 4 shades and just adding winged eyeliner gives the perfect look. I definately recommend this more than the Naked Basics palette and this quad is £10.00 which i think is pretty good for the quality. I will definitely be repurchasing as soon as i run out.

Have you tried any of these palettes yet?

Boots Haul | Makeup & More

Saturday, February 07, 2015
Its been a while since iv been into boots as its not often i can get out at the moment. I actually went to get some hair dye as iv been feeling a little down with being off work and always being in pain so i fancied a change. I have dyed my hair so many times as i get bored so easily. My natural colour is brown but iv had it brown with blonde, black, black with bits of bright blue, purple and then lastly i had it red. My hair is very thicker and no matter how much i strip it or bleach it, it never damages my hair. So i went in for hair dye and came out with makeup of course!

January Favourites

Here we are with the first favourites of the year! Christmas feel like it was months ago! This week is becoming my first good week for a while, i finally have a date for my second knee operation which is 5 weeks today...wooooo! It's been a long battle to make the story short i was actually hit by a car 10 years ago when i was 13 but the nhs wouldnt operate so i had to fight and finally got my first knee operation when i was 17 but since then i have been going back to the hospital as my knee has never been right and is gradually getting worse. Now they have finally agreed to operate and i have now found out what they told me it was all this time it actually isnt that. It has been a struggle as iv not been able to learn to drive due to this and i have had to sacrafice alot. It will be nice to get the operation done and finally get back to work after being off since June! Sorry for the little rant but im just so happy im finally getting somewhere.

Moving on its that time of the month again to show my favourite products. I have chosen 5 products which i have fallen in love with and i will tell you why so stay tuned!

Maybelline Lipgloss | Topshop Blush

Maybelline Color Show Elixir Lipgloss in "Essence" | £6.99
I have had this lipgloss a few months but only recently started using it. Its got to be one of the best lipgloss' iv ever tried. The colour is amazing and it feels lovely on. I do like my pinky shades and this is perfect as you can see from the swatch above.

I got a sample size of this for Christmas and recently bought the full size product. Its a lovely silicone based primer which evens out your skin tone and leaves skin feeling silky smooth ready for foundation. I love how this feels on my skin and my foundation does look better using this. Im not sure if its helped my oily skin more than other primers have but i dont mind touching up with powder.

I have previously used the Maxfactor Face Finity Primer so i decided to try the foundation. The foundation states its a primer, concealer and foundation all in one. I dont find that's the case as i do still use primer and concealer but the foundation itself is lovely. Its medium-full coverage but feels very lightweight on the skin. The shade is perfect for me and the lasting power is pretty good. I find maxfactor foundations to be quite thick and always used them for nights out but this one is very different and great for daytime wear.

Topshop Blush in "Good Girl"
This is an old favourite i found in my draw and forgot i had. It is such a gorgeous shade but im so upset Topshop have stopped it *cries* but there is a DUPE! Natural Collection Blush in "Pink Cloud" If you google a swatch it is pretty much identical.

I love this kit! You get a brow wax, powder and highlighter. The highlighter isnt that great but i will still buy this for the powder and wax. The shades are perfect and i just love it. The wax isnt thick which helps give you the choice to either go for a natural brow or a bit more. It is very similar to the Elf Brow Kit which doesn't include a highlighter but it is only £3.95.
